Depression and how to watch for it.

Daniel Pink talks about “Bouyancy” as a critical component of Attunement. We will cover this in class Friday. However, there is an uglier side to rejection, especially for Freshman or anyone who is beginning a new learning process in an unfamiliar environment: DEPRESSION

Everyone gets “depressed” at times…more they feel down, rejected, sad, etc Its normal however it can become dangerous and here are some of the signs:

1. Sleeping too much (too much sleep is often a sign of trying to cope with internal issues)

2. Eating too much (Some of us eat too much as it makes us feel better…it doesn’t so we eat more and more)

3. Alcohol and Drugs (Non prescription drugs are NOT ALLOWED on our campus) Over use of Alcohol or any mood altering medications (Ritalin) can be a sign that you are depressed or getting there.

4. Worse: Feelings of despair or hopelessness are super critical as they can lead to dropping out, or even suicide.

Stress is a normal part of learning and growth…embrace it and use the positive aids in my previous post to deal with it. Some depression is normal as well. If you feel depressed, go to the clinic and tell them about it….nothing to be ashamed of. They will help you. DONT TRY AND DEAL WITH CLINICAL DEPRESSION BY YOURSELF

Oh by the way……since we are learning about moving others through building relationships….One of the most effective ways to grow and deal with the ups and downs is through building and sustaining relationships )))

But I bet you already knew that LOL  Have fun…enjoy your life…dont worry you are special
